Girls basketball: Campbell hits milestone in CCCA loss

From CDT staff reportsFebruary 19, 2014

— Rachel Campbell turned a career effort into a night to remember.

Unfortunately for the senior, the night ended in a loss.

Campbell scored a career-high 26 points to pace Centre County Christian Academy in a 48-47 loss to Bloomsburg Christian on Tuesday night. In the process, Campbell became the third player in CCCA history to surpass 1,000 career points.

She is the first player to achieve the feat since Jerilee Smith topped out at 1,252 points in 2005.

Campbell also notched 11 rebounds in the game. She the first CCCA player to reach 1,000 boards in program history.

She’ll have a chance to pad her point total when the Lady Bulldogs play Juniata Mennonite in the ACAA tournament on Thursday. Campbell needs 29 points to pass Mandy Weldon for second place on CCCA’s career scoring list.
