Some dedicated Penn State students are almost ready to dance the night way, and then another one, to raise millions for the fight against pediatric cancer.
And the Centre Area Transportation Authority is taking steps to make it easier for supporters to go cheer on those dancing in the annual IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon at the Bryce Jordan Center.
CATA is offering nonstop versions of its campus loop service throughout the duration of Thon, the 46-hour dance marathon, set to run from 6 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The Blue Loop and White Loop routes will be available between 2:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, when service does not normally operate.
Buses will stop every five minutes at peak times and 22 minutes during overnight hours, CATA officials said.
State College also will make getting to Thon a little easier, lifting parking restrictions from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Parking will not be permitted on lawns and vehicle code violations will still be enforced, but one- and two-hour restrictions will be lifted at noon Friday.
Overnight parking restrictions won’t be enforced from 2 a.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Tuesday, unless there is inclement weather.

Safety improvement project
Ferguson Township officials have taken measures to make the Blue Course Drive and West College Avenue intersection safer for area motorists.
Township supervisors this week approved work to add a protected left turn on Blue Course for motorists trying to turn onto West College Avenue heading toward State College.
“If you wanted to make a left, you’d have to wait until you had a protected movement,” said David Modricker, public works director.
Officials said the work comes in response to requests for increased safety at the intersection and crash data.
Bids for the project came in above the $33,000 estimate.
Officials said they have $35,000 in state grant money for the project.
The Board of Supervisors accepted a bid for $51,000 for the work and will make up the difference in township funds.
