Centre Hall teen dies after Route 144 crash

From CDT staff reportsFebruary 22, 2014

— A Centre Hall man died Friday night after he lost control of his car and crashed on state Route 144.

State police said that Logan Michael Bonar, 18, was driving a 2001 Buick Century when he hit a patch of ice on the 600 block of the roadway in Potter Township at about 10 p.m.

Bonar’s car left the road, struck a tree with its front and traveled about 100 feet along a ditch off the shoulder before going airborne and landing on the passenger side, according to police. The vehicle then spun about 90 degrees before coming to a final stop.

Bonar, who was not wearing a seat belt, was driving about 70 mph in a 45 mph zone, police said.

He was pronounced dead at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
