Driver under suspicion of intoxication after East College Avenue crash

From CDT staff reportsFebruary 22, 2014

State College police are awaiting toxicology reports after a Pleasant Gap man reportedly struck an oncoming vehicle on East College Avenue on Friday night in College Township.

Lt. Mark Argiro said police believe Kenneth Shultz, of Pleasant Gap, was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Police responded to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on East College Avenue between Transfer Road and Rotunda Drive just before 9 p.m., and a report of an unresponsive man lying across the front seat of a white Saturn.

East College Avenue was closed between Shiloh Road and Rotunda Drive for more than an hour Friday night.

The driver of a truck, Rachel Packer, told police that the driver of an eastbound Saturn tried to pass another vehicle and struck her pickup.

Neither Packer nor the other passenger in the vehicle was injured. A Centre LifeLink ambulance took Shultz to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment.
