Letter to the editor | Jerry Sandusky’s guilt in question

March 5, 2014

Jerry Sandusky leaves the Centre County Courthouse Friday, June 22, 2012, after being found guilty in his sexual abuse trial, at the Centre County Courthouse, in Bellefonte, Pa. Nabil K. Mark

Given the disclosure of new facts and evidence relevant to the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case, it appears that Sandusky’s case in now ripe for review pursuant to the Pennsylvania Post Conviction Relief Act.

There are compelling reasons to conclude that a fundamental miscarriage of justice has occurred to Penn State and to the legacy of coach Joe Paterno and others in this case, which has resulted in substantive due process violations of constitutional magnitude.

A post-conviction proceeding is the only way to re-examine the record evidence that exists to determine whether justice truly has been served.
