Eric Todd Crader, 33, of Pleasant Gap. Crader was charged with 1,278 counts related to sexual abuse of two children.

A Pleasant Gap man charged with more than 1,000 counts of child sexual abuse waived his appearance in court this week.

Eric Todd Crader, 33, was in the Centre County Courthouse on Wednesday, but not for his scheduled preliminary hearing. He met with his new attorney, Richard Settgast.

Court officials said he was also there for bail purposes.

Crader originally was listed as continuing his preliminary hearing until March 12. Court documents show it being continued until April 9. However, court officials confirmed that he did waive that hearing during Wednesday’s visit to Bellefonte.

Crader is charged with 1,278 counts relating to the sexual abuse of two children over the course of two years.

The charges include 213 counts each of rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault of a child, sexual assault and indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old.

He was arrested Feb. 26. The incidents originally were reported to Centre County Children and Youth Services and Spring Township police in May 2013.

Court schedules list Crader for an April arraignment, with trial in June. He remains in the Centre County Correctional Facility. His bond is set at $500,000.
