After springlike weather, a brief cold blast Thursday; P-O schools delayed

From CDT staff reportsMarch 12, 2014

After a couple days of springlike weather, it will be back to winter Thursday — but only for a day.

The high temperature, which reached 63 degrees Tuesday, began its slide Wednesday from 44 degrees — about average for this time of the year. Thursday, the mercury will struggle to inch its way up from close to single digits overnight to a high of 22 degrees, according to AccuWeather.com. Overnight from Thursday to Friday, the temperature will again plummet to 13 degrees.

The X-factor Thursday will be the wind. Gusts approaching 40 mph and sustained winds at 20 mph will cause a windchill that will feel more like 2 degrees, according to AccuWeather.

But sit tight: Temperatures will be back up Friday and Saturday, with high temperatures at 54 and 51 degrees, respectively, according to AccuWeather. Lows will be 36 on Friday night and 27 on Saturday.

Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District issued a two-hour delay for Thursday.
