Penn State baseball: Fresno State pounds Nittany Lions

— J.J. White’s three-run homer was the lone bright spot for Penn State as the Nittany Lions were spanked 13-3 on Tuesday by Fresno State.

The Bulldogs (12-4) pounded 17 hits off five Nittany Lion pitchers.

With his team trailing 6-0, White belted his first home run of the season in the top of the sixth to get the Nittany Lions within 6-3. Fresno added a run in the seventh and iced the contest with a six-run eighth. Chris Mariscal homered to lead off the eighth and later added a two-run single in the inning.

Steve Snyder and Zach Ell had two hits each for the Nittany Lions (4-9). Nick Hedge (0-2) allowed six runs and eight hits over 4 1/3 innings to suffer the loss.

The two teams met late Wednesday.
