Our View | Thumbs up, down

March 14, 2014

Thumbs up: To social media, for potentially saving the life of a 7-year-old whose cancer-weakened immune system made him vulnerable to a virus. His only hope was an experimental drug. And a virtual campaign pushed a company to make the treatment available.

Thumbs down: To the two suspects caught on surveillance video going in and out of downtown State College apartments, allegedly looking to burglarize them. Police are asking anyone with information to call 234-7150. View the video at CentreDaily.com.

Thumbs up: To Michael Lee, a local businessman who hopes to develop the former Second Mile property in Patton Township, turning it into a multisport complex. The facility would include indoor playing fields and training facilities for public use.
