Penn State baseball: Fresno State belts Nittany Lions

— Fresno State scored 11 runs in its first three at-bats as the Bulldogs cruised past Penn State 12-3 late Wednesday.

Fresno State (13-4) racked up 29 hits in sweeping the two-game series against the Nittany Lions (4-10).

Leading 1-0, the Bulldogs put together back-to-back five-run innings against three Nittany Lions pitchers. Seven of the runs were unearned. Jordan Luplow’s three-run homer highlighted the outburst in the third.

Penn State scored all of its runs in the sixth without a hit. The Nittany Lions took advantage of two errors. Greg Guers had a sacrifice fly, Aaron Novak drew a bases-loaded walk and the final run scored on a wild pitch.

J.J. White led Penn State with two hits. Steve Snyder had a hit to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. Luplow was 2-for-2 with five RBIs to pace the Bulldogs.

Penn State played at Santa Clara late Thursday.
