A State College man is in jail for what police are calling a drunken break-in.

Paul Luther Lenker III was arrested early Friday after he allegedly attempted to force his way into 127 S. Barnard St., Apt. 7. The resident at the apartment told him to leave, but Lenker forced his way into the apartment damaging the door and injuring the man who tried to bar his way, police said.

Lenker left before State College police arrived at the scene but officers spotted him about half a block away. After a short foot pursuit and a struggle, he was taken into custody. Police described him as “very intoxicated” at the time.

He was arraigned before District Judge Carmine Prestia on charges of criminal attempted burglary and criminal trespass, both felonies, and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and public drunkenness.

He is in the Centre County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.
