Penn State baseball: Nittany Lions edge Santa Clara late

— Steve Snyder’s two-out, two-run single in the eighth inning lifted Penn State to a 6-5 win over Santa Clara on Thursday.

Snyder had two hits in the contest, extending his hitting streak to a career-high 11 games.

Reliever Jack Anderson continued his stellar pitching this season. Anderson (4-0) entered the contest with one out in the seventh and blanked Santa Clara on one hit from there. Anderson struck out two and did not allow a walk as he lowered his ERA to 1.15.

Greg Guers also had two hits for the Nittany Lions (5-10). Tyler Kendall had a two-run double in the fifth and added a sacrifice fly.

Jose Vizcaino Jr., Greg Harisis and Mac Hess had two hits each for the Broncos (7-11).

The two teams met late Friday.
