Letter to the editor | GOP still the party of no

March 18, 2014

In a recent TV ad a local congressman running for re-election highlighted the fact that he has voted against Obamacare 42 times, a fact we supposedly should all be pleased about.

It appears he thinks we are all ill-informed or just plain stupid.

What a monumental waste of time to vote for something 42 times knowing full well this GOP-sponsored measure would not make it through the Senate. And even if the GOP wrestles control of the Senate away from the Democrats this fall, Obama surely would veto it.

If Obamacare is as bad as he and his fellow Republicans would have us believe, would it not be better use of his time if he voted once for a comprehensive health care bill sponsored by his party that would provide health care for those who lack it?

Unfortunately, his party is a party of being against things rather than a party of doing things that benefit the entire country.
