High school boys’ tennis: State College sweeps unbeaten Mifflin County

March 24, 2014

— Despite Monday’s chilly conditions and an undefeated opponent, State College racked up five straight-set wins to drop Mifflin County 5-0 in Mid-Penn League play.

Matt and Sam Wherley and Dan Shull each took their singles matches in quick fashion, while doubles wins were posted by the teams of Luke Plowden and Enrique del Castillo, and Shreyas Radhakrishna and Lucas Forest.

“(Mifflin County) was 4-0 coming into the match so we knew they would be a solid team,” Little Lions coach Jane Borden said. “But the guys came out ready to play from the start. They are playing good, smart tennis right now and they should be proud of themselves.”
