Penn State softball: Michigan sweeps Penn State

— Penn State went hitless through the first four innings of its 12-4 loss to No. 6 Michigan at Nittany Lion Softball Park on Saturday.

The Nittany Lions (6-21, 0-6) were outscored 40-4 and managed just eight hits as the Wolverines (25-6, 6-0) swept the three-game series. Penn State has now lost seven straight and dropped 17 of its last 18 games. Sophomore Karlie Habitz broke up Michigan pitcher Haylie Wagner’s no-hitter in the bottom of the fifth inning. Shelby Miller and Alyssa Sovereign each recorded hits to help Penn State score all four of its runs in the inning.

Wagner pitched 4 2/3 innings and struck out six for the win to move to 17-0 this season. Penn State’s Macy Jones allowed six runs in two innings for the loss.

Michigan’s Sierra Lawrence went 2-for-3 and scored three runs to go with two RBIs.
