April 1, 2014

Q: What is The Centre Daily Times plus?

A: Centre Daily Times plus provides immediate and unlimited access to all content on our newspaper’s website ( centredaily.com ), mobile apps for tablet, iPad, smartphone and iPhone, and our electronic replica edition (e-Edition).

We know many of our Centre Daily Times readers now get news on computers, phones and digital tablets, as well as in print. In an effort to stay cutting edge, we are providing your local, regional and national news and information in a variety of formats to meet those needs.

Center Daily Times plus is a set of paid subscription options giving readers immediate and unlimited access to all that we have to offer digitally. Some portions of the Centre Daily Times digital information is accessible to everyone, but other portions will be limited without a paid subscription.

Q: What is immediate and unlimited access?

A: Some portions of our site, like the Homepage (the first page you come to), our Section Fronts (Local News, Sports, Features, and Business sections), dealsaver, and all advertising will remain fully accessible. But, the story level pages, photo and video galleries, commenting and opinions, breaking news and other content has limited access without a subscription.

When a reader clicks on a headline to read the full story, this is called a page view. Non-subscribers are limited to ten page views during a 30-day period.

(Note: the 30-day period starts with your first page view; it is not a calendar month. If you view use less than the ten page views in this period, the unused page views will not roll-over to the next 30-day cycle.)

Downloadable CDT apps for mobile devices are still available but the page views are limited to sixty free pages in a 30-day period for non-subscribers. The mobile browser site ( m.centredaily.com ) is limited to twenty free pages. The plus subscription gives you have unlimited access on all these devices plus access to our e-Edition.

Q: How do I subscribe to Centre Daily Times plus?

A: There are two ways: a print and digital subscription and a digital-only subscription. Both include the full member benefits of Centre Daily Times plus. Simply visit http://centredaily.com/plus and select the subscription option you desire.

Q: If I am a subscriber, how can I tell if the Centre Daily Times plus benefits are included in my paid subscription?

A: Those of you who elected a print and digital subscription offer may already have the above benefits and simply need to activate them. If is the case, your Centre Daily Times invoice will state, “Your CDT plus subscription includes unlimited access to our newspaper’s website (centredaily.com), mobile apps for table, iPad, smartphone and iPhone, and our electronic replica edition (e-Edition).” You need to activate the digital portion of your subscription by visiting www.centredaily.com/activate and follow the prompts to provide the information requested to access all your plus member benefits through Press+, our digital subscription provider.

If you elected a digital-only subscription, you were asked to activate your plus member benefits when you ordered and paid for your subscription on-line. You are already taking advantage of the full member benefits of Centre Daily Times plus through our digital subscription service, Press+.

Q: If the benefits are included, why do print subscribers have an additional step to activate the plus benefits?

A: We value you as a print subscriber and we are working to resolve the necessity of this additional step. But for now, the activation step is necessary because you need to provide an email address and create a personal password for the digital portion of your subscription. That’s why you have to activate your benefits on line through www.centredaily.com/activate and Press+, our digital subscription provider.

Q: How long does it take to activate the benefits of my Centre Daily Times plus subscription?

A: About a minute on average. You will provide an email address, personal password and enter your newspaper delivery address for verification. Once done, as long as your paid print and digital subscription stays current, you will not have to activate this feature again.

Q: How do I access my digital subscription?

A: Once you are a Centre Daily Times plus subscriber, and either you activated the digital side of your subscription as a print and digital subscriber through www.centredaily.com/activate or your were automatically activated as a digital-only subscriber, you are logged in on the computer or lap top used to purchase your subscription.

However, if you want to log in to another device or clear your login data, you may see the message asking you to subscribe again. If that happens, use the “Sign In” button on the top right corner of that screen and enter your email and password you selected.

(See also Account Managing FAQ for additional account management information and instruction.)

Q: Will I still be able to use the free CDT mobile apps without paying for a subscription?
