Campus Corner: State College’s Austin Mock swings hot bat for IUP

Austin Mock

Austin Mock was named the Indiana University of Pensylvania’s Player of the Week last week for his work on the baseball diamond.

The State College graduate hit .529 (9-for-17) with three doubles and two RBIs during that stretch. He also collected three saves in 5 2/3 innings of work during which he struck out four. For the season he is hitting .294 with five runs scored, 15 hits, six doubles and four RBIs.

On the mound he is 0-0 with four saves and a 1.86 ERA. In 9 2/3 innings he has given up six hits, two runs, both earned, walked four and struck out six. IUP is 9-10.

Baseball

Seth Tressler (Bellefonte, Mansfield) is hitting .364 with 21 runs scored, 28 hits, five doubles, two homers and 18 RBIs. Mansfield is 12-7.

Justin Taylor (Bald Eagle Area, California of Pa.) is hitting .217 with five hits, a double and five RBIs. On the mound he’s 3-2 with a 3.77 ERA. In 31 innings he has given up 31 hits, 15 runs, 13 earned, walked eight and struck out 20. Cal is 13-9.

Brandon Myers (Philipsburg-Osceola, Slippery Rock) has a .263 average with five hits including a double and five RBIs. Slippery Rock is 14-8.

Luke Curtis (P-O, Pitt) leads the team in ERA with a 1.42 mark. He is 0-0 with two saves in 12 2/3 innings of work. He has given up 15 hits and five runs, only two of them earned, while walking four and striking out 13. Pitt is 15-11.

Drew Bryan (P-O, VMI) has a .273 average with four runs scored, three hits and a double. VMI is 15-10.

Clint Hicks (State College, PSU-Harrisburg) is 0-4. In 19 2/3 innings he has given up 35 hits and 26 runs, 18 earned, while walking seven and striking out nine. Harrisburg is 4-15.

Matt Fry (State College, Washington & Jefferson) is hitting .250. He has scored one run and has five hits and an RBI. W&J is 7-7.

Parker Watson (P-O, Lock Haven) is 2-1 with a 7.06 ERA. In 21 2/3 innings he has allowed 27 hits and 19 runs, 17 of them earned, while walking seven and striking out 12. Lock Haven is 9-8.

Mike Marcinko (P-O, Shippensburg) is hitting .333 with eight runs scored, 21 hits, two doubles and seven RBIs. Shippensburg is 16-3.

Mark Curtis (P-O, Shippensburg) is 3-0 with a 2.86 ERA. In 22 innings he has given up 21 hits and nine runs, seven earned, while walking eight and striking out 22.

Saige Jenco (State College, Virginia Tech) is hitting .342 with 23 runs scored, 27 hits, three doubles and seven RBIs. He is also 11-for-15 in stolen base attempts. Virginia Tech is 12-12.

Jason Costa (State College, Walters State) is hitting .429 with nine hits, eight runs scored, four doubles and three RBIs. Walters is 28-9 and ranked 10th in the NJCAA.

Jared Daily (State College, PSU-Altoona) has a .154 batting average with five runs scored, four hits and four RBIs. He is also 0-3 on the mound with a 12.56 ERA. In 14 1/3 innings he has given up 23 hits and 21 runs, 20 of them earned, while walking 12 and striking out five. Altoona is 5-12.

Michael Finlan (State College, Marietta) has a 1.56 ERA with an 0-2 record. In 17 1/3 innings he has given up 23 hits and nine runs, three earned, while walking three and striking out two. Marietta is 12-6.

Ben Finlan (State College, Grove City) has a 1.64 ERA. He is 0-2. In 11 innings he has allowed eight hits and four runs, two earned, while walking three and striking out eight. Grove City is 4-7.

Shane Regel (State College, Allegheny) is hitting .313 with three runs scored, five hits, a double and three RBIs. Allegheny is 9-4.

Dylan Womer (BEA, Allegany CC) is 1-2 with a 1.50 ERA. In 24 innings he has allowed 15 hits and 12 runs, four earned, while walking 14 and striking out 23. Allegany is 6-11.

Jon Romine (BEA, Allegany CC) is 0-1 with an 11.05 ERA. In 7 1/3 innings he has given up 12 hits and 11 runs, nine earned, while walking six and striking out five.

Softball

Erica Pooler (Bellefonte, Lock Haven) is hitting .217 with three runs scored, 10 hits, five doubles, a homer and nine RBIs. Lock Haven is 6-13.

Jasa Mitchell (BEA, IUP) is hitting .447 according to the most recent stats. She has scored 11 runs and has 17 hits, two doubles, a triple and three homers. She has driven in eight runs. IUP is 6-4.

Lily Glunt (BEA, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .419 with 14 runs scored and 14 driven in. Among her 18 hits are a double and a triple.

Brittany Smith (Bellefonte, PSU-Altoona) is hittng .417 with 13 runs scored, 15 hits, three doubles, a triple and five RBIs.

Kelly Chambers (BEA, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .425 with 14 runs scored, 17 hits, four doubles, two triples, two homers and 13 RBIs.

Cassondra Ross (BEA, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .385 with four runs scored, five hits and three RBIs. In the circle she is 2-0 with a 5.42 ERA. In 20 2/3 innings she has given up 27 hits and 16 runs, all earned, while walking seven and striking out 12. Altoona is 12-4.

Raychel DeArmitt (Bellefonte, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .360 with two runs scored, nine hits, two doubles, a triple and 10 RBIs. She has also pitched 40 innings and has a 3.67 ERA with a 7-1 record, giving up 46 hits and 23 runs, 21 earned, while walking 17 and striking out 46.

Clarissa Keller (Penns Valley, PSU-Altoona) leads the team in RBIs with 15 and is second in hitting with a .475 average. She has scored 14 runs and leads the team in hits with 19, two of them doubles and two of them home runs.

Allison Simpson (BEA, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .381 with six runs scored, seven hits and six RBIs.

Kate Burge (P-O, PSU-Altoona) is 3-3 with a 1.25 ERA and one save. In 39 1/3 inning she has allowed 28 hits and 10 runs, seven earned, while walking seven and striking out 44. At the plate she is hitting .313 with four runs scored, five hits, two doubles and two RBIs.

Dani Hart (State College, Mt. Aloysius) has a .194 average with nine runs scored, seven hits, a homer and four RBIs. Mt. Aloysius is 7-5.

Chelsey Poorman (BEA, Lycoming) is hitting .125 with two runs two hits and an RBI. Lycoming is 5-4.

Tess Deardorff (Penns Valley, Lebanon Valley) has a .389 batting average with 13 runs scored, 14 hits, three doubles, a triple and two RBIs. She is 9-for-9 in stolen base attempts. Lebanon Valley is 11-0 and ranked 13th in the NFCA Division III poll.

Kate Deardorff (Penns Valley, Lebanon Valley) is hitting .467 with six runs scored, 14 hits, an RBI and is 6-for-8 in stolen base attempts.

Morgan Coble (P-O, Shenandoah) is hitting .279 with five runs scored, 12 hits, a double, a triple and an RBI. Shenandoah is 2-13.

Taylor Parsons (BEA, St. Francis) is hitting .323 with 11 runs scored, 21 hits, two doubles, two triples, a homer and 17 RBIs. St. Francis is 16-7.

Hannah Cooper (Bellefonte, Central Connecticut State) has a .294 batting average with three runs scored, 15 hits, three doubles, a homer and five RBIs. CCSU is 12-9.

Christina Tressler (Bellefonte, Clarion) is hitting .409 with nine hits, two doubles and three RBIs. Clarion is 1-6.

Ally Baney (State College, Juniata) has a .179 average with 10 runs scored, 10 hits, three doubles, two triples and an RBI. Juniata is 3-15.

Track & field

Brice Beals (BEA, Lock Haven) placed 10th in the hammer throw with a 150-foot, 3-inch effort at the Fred Harvey Invitational at Richmond University. The throw met PSAC qualifying standards.

Nate Sweeley (Penns Valley, Lock Haven) was 40th in the 100-meter dash in 11.77 seconds and 34th in the 200 in 23.23 at the Fred Harvey Invitational.

Corey King (Penns Valley, Lock Haven) was 23rd among 60 runners in the 100 with a time of 11:31 and was 26th among 58 runners in the 200 at the Fred Harvey.

John Crowe (State College, Susquehanna) ran a 34:03.07 in the 10,000 to place third at the Jim Taylor Invitational.

Paul Crowe (State College, Susquehanna) ran a 34:00.67 to take second in the 10,000 at the Jim Taylor meet.

Chloe Schmidt (State College, Illinois) finished fifth in the 800 meters in 2:07.37 at the Arizona State Invitational. It was the eighth-best time in school history.

Tennis

Chris Borden (State College, George Mason) is 3-1 in singles and 10-4 in doubles. George Mason is 6-6.

Blake Gregory (State College, East Carolina) is 10-4 in singles and 3-2 in doubles. East Carolina is 14-5.

Lacrosse

Andy Jameson (State College, Eastern) has seven goals and five assists. Eastern is 6-4.

Kayla Weaver (State College, Shippensburg) has started all nine games on defense. Shippensburg is 5-4.

Volleyball

Suzanne Horner (State College) has transferred from Mississippi State to Iowa State.
