Men charged in heroin case make bail

From CDT staff reportsApril 3, 2014

Two Phililpsburg-area men charged with dealing heroin are free on bond.

John Lorraine Bowes, 33, of Decatur Township, Clearfield County, and Walter L. Wagner, 42, of Philipsburg, both continued their preliminary hearings in Centre County court on Wednesday until April 9. However, Wagner’s lawyer, Karen Muir, was in front of District Judge Leslie Dutchcot asking for a change in bail.

His original $25,000 bail was changed to $100,000 unsecured. He was released Wednesday.

Bowes was also released Wednesday after securing his $100,000 bail.

The two were arrested last week after the state police served warrants on Bowes’ home and business, Rebel Towing in Rush Township, finding heroin, drug paraphernalia and $21,000 in cash. Police said they had been making controlled purchases from the pair throughout March.
