Firefighters monitor a Penn Township fire after it was brought under control Wednesday night.

— A fire in the township Wednesday night brought out several companies to douse the blaze.

Flames erupted from a pumphouse, according to Todd Hillard, the chief on the scene from the Millheim Fire Company, and were spreading to the barn.

The firefighters pumped water from state Route 45, approximately half a mile to a mile away, to the site.

The barn had minimal damage, but the pumphouse was destroyed.
