Penn State softball: Nittany Lions split doubleheader with Saint Francis

— Penn State split its doubleheader against Saint Francis (Pa.), losing 4-2 in the first beforing winning 9-1 Wednesday night at Beard Field.

Penn State’s Macy Jones pitched a complete game and took the loss to the Red Flash (18-8) in the opener after allowing two-run home runs to Alexis Bower and Taylor Parsons. The Nittany Lions (7-22) bounced back in the second game, thanks to an eight-run fifth inning. Kasie Hatfield, Alicia Walker and Shelby Miller each drove in two runs for Penn State in support of winning pitcher Marlaina Laubach.

Penn State senior Alyssa Sovereign went 4-for-8 combined in the doubleheader.
