Milesburg man again accused of stealing snakes

From CDT staff reportsApril 4, 2014

A Milesburg man accused of stealing 13 exotic snakes last year is now facing charges he swiped three other snakes from a Patton Township pet store.

Nathan Flick, 20, pleaded guilty Thursday in Centre County Court to one count of felony burglary in the first case, the May 2013 break-in at a Union Township mobile home. Authorities have said Flick and two co-defendants, Nicholas Snedden, 22, of Boalsburg, and Tyler Lykens, 25, of Bellefonte, orchestrated the heist of the ball pythons valued at $30,000.

According to a news release from Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller, authorities connected Flick and two unidentified men to the theft of three snakes from Petco on March 24. Parks Miller said the snakes from the alleged Petco theft were recovered in Mill Hall.

Flick is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the Petco theft charges on April 30.

Flick will be sentenced on May 20 for the burglary count from the mobile home break-in.

Police in Berks County arrested Flick in June after they said he tried to sell five pythons at a reptile expo in Hamburg. The owner, licensed reptile dealer Christopher Robinson, had reported the snakes stolen and spread the word among his professional circles, according to news reports from the time.

Several of the snakes were pregnant at the time and lost their young.

Lykens was convicted in March of burglary, conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property in the Union Township case and is awaiting sentencing. Snedden is awaiting trial on conspiracy and related charges.
