Penn State softball: Nittany Lions grab first Big Ten victory with win over Spartans

— Lexi Knief and Macy Jones turned in two hits each on Friday afternoon to lead the Penn State softball team to its first Big Ten win of the season as the Nittany Lions defeated Michigan State 9-3.

Four Nittany Lions recorded extra-base hits in the contest with doubles coming from Karlie Habitz and Kristina Brackpool, while Jones and Kasie Hatfield added a triple apiece.

Freshman pitcher Marlaina Laubach also had a big game, doling out a season-best tying six strikeouts en route to her sixth win of the year.

Penn State (8-22, 1-6 Big Ten) outhit the Spartans (8-22, 1-6 Big Ten) nine to seven and did not register a single error while MSU posted two miscues.
