Police investigate break-in, stolen car in State College

From CDT staff reportsApril 6, 2014

State College police are investigating an incident in which a house was broken into and a stolen car was left outside Saturday, police said.

A 28-year-old man was talking with his mother on the phone when it sounded as if someone broke into the house and the phone cut out, police said.

The incident occured at 632 Beaumont Drive.

The mother reported the incident to a nearby officer. No one was at the scene when police arrived, but the house had signs of a break-in and the stolen car from Philadelphia was abandoned.

Police did not locate either person, but the man called his sister later to tell her that he was safe.

Police said there is no danger to anyone in the public and the active investigation is ongoing.
