April 7, 2014

— Penn State softball center fielder Lexi Knief was named the Big Ten’s Player of the Week for her play last week.

The sophomore went 10-for-18 at the plate in five games, registering seven runs, three RBIs, a double, a triple and her first collegiate home run.

Knief had multiple hits in four of the games as the Nittany Lions split with Saint Francis and swept three games from Michigan State.

She leads Penn State in eight different statistical categories — batting average (.392), at-bats (97), runs (30), hits (38), triples (4), total bases (53), walks (18) and on-base percentage (.487).

Penn State (10-22, 3-6) plays at Indiana on Friday.
