High school boys’ volleyball: State College spikes Carlisle

— Clark Handel had 13 kills as the State College boys’ volleyball team got its first dual match win of the season with a 25-15, 25-23, 28-26 triumph over Carlisle on Tuesday.

Andrew Groves added nine kills for the Little Lions (1-3). Peyton Stark had 2 1/2 blocks and Handel had two. Parker Thompson notched 21 digs, while Brandon Kuruzovich and Groves combined for 38 assists.

“We’re very relieved,” said State College coach Kim-Li Kimel, who lauded the play of Stark and Handel. “It was a much-needed win. These boys work hard every day and it was good to see that hard work pay off.”

Carlisle dropped to 3-2.
