April 11, 2014

— Jon Smith, Kyle Adams, Mason Post and Will Cather smashed an 85-year-old State College track record as the Little Lions defeated Central Dauphin East 118-32 on Thursday.

The quartet ran a time of 3 minutes, 20.8 seconds in the 1,600-meter relay, smashing the old mark by exactly two seconds.

“Breaking it was a huge accomplishment,” State College coach Rusty McCrea said. “I am very proud of the hard work put in over the past four years that has now paid off.”

Tristan Daman (100, 200), Bryce Williams (long jump, triple jump) and Patrick Irwin (high jump, javelin) each won a pair of events for the Little Lions. Matt Beyerle (1,600), Jon Smith (300 hurdles), Tony Degleris (800), Chris Golembeski (3,200), Matt Mullin (shot put), Andrew Miller (discus) and Griffin Thompson (pole vault) also won individual events for the Little Lions.
