High school softball: State College splits doubleheader with St. Hubert, Central Dauphin

— State College jumped out to an early lead but a seven run sixth inning doomed the Lady Little Lions in a loss to St. Hubert 9-5 on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader for State College.

Lexi Mattivi went 2 for 4 on the day with two RBIs for State College, who led 4-2 going into the sixth inning. Alyssa Shedlock and Laura Harris each had a double for the Lady Little Lions.

In the second game of the day, State College proved to be too much for Central Dauphin in a 9-1 victory.

Jess Henderson (5-0) was the winning pitcher and gave up only four hits and one run with three strikeouts and two walks. Henderson also had a day at the plate going 3 for 4 with a triple and driving in two runs.

Shedlock had a double and two RBIs while going 2 for 4 on the day.
