High school track and field: Hackman, Urban lead St. Joseph’s

— Brian Hackman and Eli Urban finished first and second in the 1,600 meters to lead the St. Joesph’s Catholic Academy boys’ track and field team to a seventh-place finish at the United Invitational on Saturday.

Hackman covered the distance in 4 minutes, 40.82 seconds, edging Urban, who ran 4:42.14. Hackman (2:03.81) placed second and Urban (2:05.89) was third in the 800. They also joined Charlie Ross and JP Romero to take fourth in the 1,600 relay 3:49.40.

Mike Jabco (17-11) placed fifth in the long jump.

Cecelia Surovec led the St. Joseph’s girls’ team to a 15th-place finish. Surovec placed third in the 300 hurdles (50.29) and fifth in the 100 hurdles (17.86).

Grace Cousins took seventh in the 1,600 (5:53.84) and eighth in the 800 (2:46.86). Cousins and Survovec teamed with Xabine Stager-Kamats and Monica Survec to place ninth in the 1,600 relay (4:56.92).

Stager-Kamats also place ninth in the pole vault (5-6).
