High school boys’ tennis: State College sweeps Northern York

— State College made the two-hour drive and made quick work of Northern York as the Little Lions swept the Polar Bears 5-0 on Monday.

In the singles matches, Dan Shull and Matt Wherley each opened their No. 1 and No. 2 matches, respectively, with wins dropped the middle set and rebounded to win the third sets. Shull defeated Ryan Boucher (6-4, 4-6, 6-1) and Wherley’s victory was over Ben Hammen (6-2, 5-7, 6-1). In No. 3 singles, Sam Wherley dropped one game to Austin Snyder (6-1, 6-0).

State College’s (9-0) doubles team of Enrique del Cadtillo and Luke Plowden and Lucas Forest and Dan Yoon dropped a total of four games in their matches. del Cadtillo/Plowden notched a 6-1, 6-1 win over Rusty Miller/Andy Stewart and Forest/Yoon picked up a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Eric Wenrich/Logan Morris.
