Letter to the editor | Never to repeat

April 16, 2014

Yogi Berra said, “It’s deja vu all over again.”

Penn Staters will be howling, “It’s deja vu all over again” if history does what it typically does and repeats itself: another mismanaged crisis, a panic fund of millions of dollars spent unwisely, the reputation of the university in tatters.

In this new election season, alumni have another opportunity to replace our segment of the 2011 board.

Alice Pope has been an activist since the John Surma “call me” note went out to Joe Paterno.

She’s gone to Harrisburg, booking face time with legislators and working to change the laws of university governance. She has urged alumni to stop merely complaining and take constructive action.

Her strong core values make her a staunch proponent of success with honor.

Vote for Alice Pope.

Mary Agliardo, Niantic, Conn.
