A power outage hit the Northland Center on Wednesday morning, prompting several businesses to close for part of the day.

Tom Kearney, a West Penn Power spokesman, said that a piece of underground wire failed at about 9:55 a.m., leaving about 250 customers without power. Service was restored by 12:10 p.m. to all but 13 customers, and by 2 p.m. to everyone.

Several businesses had signs on their doors Wednesday saying they were closed. A manager at Giant Food Stores in the Northland Center said the store remained open during the outage and that no produce was lost as a result.
