Letter to the editor | A bump in the road

April 18, 2014

How nice it is to drive on the new Whitehall Road surface.

Going eastbound from College Avenue toward the YMCA all is well until suddenly the jolts in the road bring you back to the reality that all is not well.

What’s the problem?

As one approaches the traffic light near the YMCA, there are several manhole covers well below the road surface. Approaching vehicles can be seen swerving to miss them — totally unnecessary and ridiculous for a new road surface!

One would think that after decades of building roads, the construction industry would get it right. What government entities signed off on this shoddy work?
