Penn State softball: Wisconsin takes two from Nittany Lions

— Wisconsin swept a doubleheader from Penn State Saturday at Nittany Lion Softball Park, winning 4-0 and 5-2 to take all three games on the weekend.

Taylor-Paige Stewart struck out seven with no walks in the three-hit shutout in the opener. Chloe Miller belted a two-run home run to highlight the Badgers’ offense, while Marissa Mersch had a pair of doubles.

Macy Jones allowed just five hits and one walk in the loss, and Reina Furuya singled and doubled for two of the team’s three hits.

Mary Massei was 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs to pace the Badgers in Game 2, while Cassandra Laubach earned the win.

Kasie Hatfield had two of Penn State’s five hits in the loss, while Marlaina Laubach gave up six hits and no walks in the complete-game loss.

The Nittany Lions (14-26, 5-10 Big Ten) visit Ohio State for a doubleheader Wednesday.
