Centre Foundation and its Facebook followers secured an extra $5,000 for Centre Gives in an online contest that ended Friday. The money will be added to the pro-rated match pool, bringing the total to $105,000 in grant money.

“We are proud of our online outreach and grateful to everyone who took the time to vote so that we can provide this additional $5,000 during Centre Gives,” Molly Kunkel, executive director at Centre Foundation, said in a news release.

The contest was hosted by Give Local America and was open to any of the more than 80 community foundations participating in the May 6 Give Local America giving day. Centre Foundation was in the “under 100 participating local nonprofits” category, competing against other foundations in Montana, Michigan, Florida and Louisiana, according to the release.

This year, there are 97 local nonprofits participating in Centre Gives, up from 82 in 2013 and 74 in 2012, according to the news release. There also will be $25,000 in prizes that will be distributed during the 36-hour online giving event that begins at midnight May 6 at CentreGives.org.
