Penn State football: Lions to face Rutgers in prime time on BTN

— Penn State’s Sept. 13 football game at Rutgers will kick off at 8 p.m. and air on the Big Ten Network, the Big Ten Conference announced Tuesday.

The game will be played at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, N.J.

The showdown will be Rutgers’ first Big Ten game and will open the conference’s 119th football season.

This is Penn State’s third announced night game of 2014. The Nittany Lions will visit Michigan at 7 p.m. on Oct. 11 (ESPN or ESPN2) and play host to Ohio State at 8 p.m. on Oct. 25 (ABC, ESPN or ESPN2).

Penn State and Rutgers have met 24 times, with the first meeting in 1918 and the last coming in 1995.

Rutgers and Maryland will officially join the Big Ten on July 1 and Penn State will play both annually as East Division foes.

The Nittany Lions host the Terrapins on Nov. 1.
