State College police are asking the public for help figuring out what happened to a local man who died Saturday.

Duane Olson, 85, was pronounced dead at Mount Nittany Medical Center after a bike crash.

Police said Olson was not hit by another vehicle, but sustained head wounds when he collided with a chain link fence post and cinderblock wall behind the Firestone auto repair shop on South Atherton Street around 1 p.m.

Police are seeking information from any witnesses who may have observed Olson riding his bicycle in the area of Rolling Ridge Drive prior to the accident.

According to police, he was riding a bright blue Trek mountain bike and wearing a white snap-brim hat and carrying a cane.

Witnesses are asked to call Detective Ralph Ralston at 278-4742.
