State police to collect unused prescriptions

Police will be accepting unwanted, expired and unused prescription drugs on Saturday.

State police will be taking medication at the Rockview barracks on South Eagle Valley Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. State police at Philipsburg will be picking them up the same time at Weis Market on Centre Street.

Patton Township police will be collecting at the Walmart on North Atherton Street.

The service is free, no questions asked, said police.

In October, according to Patton Township, Americans turned in 324 tons of medications to state and local agencies at 4,114 sites.

State police said that Troop G, including both Centre County stations, accepted a record-breaking 584 pounds of medicines.
