Penn State softball: Nittany Lions shut out by Golden Gophers

April 26, 2014

— Penn State wasted an outstanding pitching effort from Marlaina Laubauch as the Nittany Lions fell 1-0 against Minnesota.

Laubauch (9-14) tossed a four-hitter, walking one and striking out three. The Golden Gophers’ lone run was unearned in the fourth inning.

Minnesota ace Sara Moulton (21-6) stymied the Nittany Lions (14-29 overall, 5-13 Big Ten). Moulton fired a five-hitter with no walks and 11 strikeouts.

Penn State leadoff hitter Lexi Knief was the only player in the contest with multiple hits.

The three-game weekend series continues on Saturday.
