PHILADELPHIA — The State College track and field team has one of the best relay teams in the nation.
That fact was reaffirmed Saturday afternoon at Franklin Field.
The 3,200-meter relay team finished sixth in the Penn Relays Championship of American, turning in a torrid time of 7 minutes, 45.12 seconds.
Chris Golembeski, Kyle Adams, Mason Post and Will Cather each ran legs under 2 minutes en route to the time, bettering their time from Friday’s race and finshing fourth among American teams and first among the entries from Pennsylvania.
Calabar of Kingston, Jamaica, won the race in 7:37.36, with another Jamaican team taking third. Teams from New York, New Jersey and Virginia were the others ahead of the Little Lions in the 12-team race.
Also, Bryce Williams finished fifth in the triple jump. He was third after the second round of jumps before falling back, with a top leap of 47 feet, 11 3/4 inches on his third of six attempts.
In addition, the 4x400 relay team was eighth in its heat and 80th overall with a time of 3:25.75 for the foursome of Jonathan Smith, Noah Woods, Alex Milligan and Anthony Deglaris.
