High school softball: Penns Valley drops pair in Penns Valley Invitational

April 26, 2014

— Penns Valley had its three-game winning streak snapped as the Lady Rams fell 5-3 to West Branch and 4-0 to Hollidaysburg in the Penns Valley Invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Rams (3-8) committed eight errors in the two games, including six in the opener to West Branch. Their pitchers stranded 15 West Branch runners in the contest.

Ashley Struble (two runs) and Megan Houser (two RBIs) each had two hits in the loss.

Hollidaysburg’s Mikayla Focht tossed a four-hitter in the second game. Kaleigh Jones had two hits for the Lady Rams.

“We just didn’t play real well,” Penns Valley coach Don Lucas said. “We were in both games. We just didn’t come up with the timely hit and we didn’t play well in the field.”
