High school softball: State College turns away Carlisle

April 28, 2014

— State College’s Lexi Mattivi smacked four hits as the Lady Little Lions turned back Carlisle 6-4 on Monday.

State College (8-4) scored twice in the first. Breanna Adams singled home the first run and another scored when Mattivi swiped second and the ball was thrown away. Mattivi had an RBI single in a two-run third that snapped at 2-2 tie.

Leadoff hitter Sharaya Simco and No. 2 Megan Robert, who scored three runs and drove in one, reached base eight times between them. Karli Nolan (2-4) earned the win in the circle.

“We got a lot of production from the top of our lineup,” State College coach Mike Harper said. “It was a workman-like game.”
