High school boys’ volleyball: State College comes back to beat Cumberland Valley

— Led by its seniors, State College earned a comeback 3-2 win over Cumberland Valley on senior night Thursday.

“They decided they weren’t gonna let them knock them off the court in their last home match,” State College coach Kim-Li Kimel said.

The Little Lions (6-5) trailed 2-1 before winning 25-20 and 16-14 in the fourth and fifth games, respectively, to clinch the win over the Eagles (9-2). Andrew Groves finished with 16 kills, 11 digs and 29 assists to lead State College. Clark Handel recorded 14 kills, and Deniz Demirci had 12.

Parker Thompson led the Little Lions with 17 digs, and Noah Christie added 24 assists.
