High school baseball: Penns Valley uses late surge to beat Central Mountain

May 2, 2014

— Penns Valley took advantage of a late pitching change by Central Mountain and beat the Wildcats 4-3 on Friday.

After Penns Valley’s Davey Keller and Central Mountain’s Caleb Seyler dualed for six innings, the Wildcats’ coaching staff opted to let Cayden Stover pitch the seventh. Taylor Collison and Anthony Montresor made his only inning a tough one.

Collison sent a line drive over the third-base line with two outs and Montresor followed with a double to give Penns Valley a 3-1 lead. Wyatt Sharp added needed insurance with an RBI single in the next at bat to cap the Rams’ scoring.

Keller got his first win of the seasons. He gave up three runs on 11 hits with three walks but struck out six to get the victory.
