Letter to the editor | Help Centre reaches out

May 3, 2014

We in Centre County are blessed with the Community Help Centre, one of the region’s premier helping agencies.

The CHC provides a 24-hour emergency hotline managed by trained staff equipped to handle “any problem, any time.” It has been my privilege to participate in training, serve on the board and work with the wonderful individuals who commit their time and energy to addressing urgent situations affecting our friends and neighbors.

The CHC (www.communityhelpcentre.com) provides referrals to other helping organizations in the community for those who need food, shelter, heat or emotional support. Callers can remain anonymous, confidentiality is maintained and compassionate, and well-trained staff members respond to callers and are able to offer real solutions.

The support of this fine organization is a shared responsibility, and I encourage all who care about those in distress to support this valuable service.

Join me at CentreGives.org.
