Penn State Softball: Nittany Lion skid hits 10 straight

— The Penn State softball team saw its losing streak reach 10 straight games with a 6-1 loss to Illinois on Saturday, spoiling Senior Day at the Nittany Lion Softball Park.

Shelese Arnold scattered six hits in the win for the Illini, striking out three and walking four in the complete-game effort. Christy Von Pusch (2-2) started and took the loss, with Macy Jones finishing the final 3 2/3 innings.

Allie Bauch belted a home run, her seventh of the season, to lead off the game and Illinois never trailed. She finished 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs, while Kylie Johnson also was 2 for 4 with a two-run triple.

Lexi Knief was 2 for 4 with a double for Penn State (14-33, 5-17 Big Ten), and her RBI single in the fifth inning accounted for the team’s lone run. Jones also had a double as the team reached its second 10-game skid of the season.

Penn State closes its regular-season schedule with its final home game at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, hosting the Illini.
