From CDT staff reportsMay 7, 2014

— State College’s Alyssa Shedlock tied Tuesday’s game against Cedar Cliff with an RBI single in the bottom of seventh inning, while teammate Lexi Mattivi picked up the game-winning RBI single with two outs to lift the Lady Little Lions to a 4-3 Mid Penn victory.

The Colts grabbed a 3-2 lead in the third on three hits and a pair of State College errors. The Lady Little Lions took a 2-0 lead in the second on an RBI single from Megan Robert and a sacrifice squeeze bunt from Laura Harris. The game slowed through the middle three frames before State College (10-5) struck for the win in the seventh.

“We scored runs when it mattered, and we’ve come up with some really big hits lately,” State College coach Mike Harper said. “It was an ugly win today. We had four errors, but we’ll take it.”

State College pitcher Karli Nolan overcame her team’s four errors by giving up three runs on 10 hits, and striking out three. She didn’t allow a walk, as she improved to 4-5 on the season.
