Penn State student accused in kidnap hoax waives hearing

From CDT staff reportsMay 7, 2014

The Penn State student who reported an attempted kidnapping in January waived her preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Samantha Sernekos, 20, of Landing, N.J., was charged with unsworn falsification of authorities and false reports to law enforcement, both misdemeanors, in March after police determined that the story she told about two men forcing her into a car on Shortlidge Road near Simmons Hall before she was able to escape on foot was a fabrication.

Sernekos proceeds toward trial in the August term of court for her charges.
