Penn State students, faculty and staff won’t have to turn further than their inbox for campus news starting this summer.
In June, the university will be launching “Penn State Today” a daily news page that will be sent out everyday to tens of thousands via email.
University spokeswoman Lisa Powers told the board of trustees outreach committee Thursday that the university is “missing a key internal piece” in how it communicates with its audiences, namely reaching students, faculty and others on campus.
“As you know, the No. 1 stakeholders are those internally,” Powers said. “They are your greatest ambassadors. They need to be updated every day on the place they study, learn and work.”
Enter “Penn State Today,” which will be launched sometime in June and will likely be sent out Monday through Friday eventually. Powers said the frequency will likely be scaled back in the summer when there is less happening on campus.
“It’s a learning curve,” she said.
Anyone with a Penn State email will get the product, but others who want on the list can request to be added, officials said at the meeting.
