High school baseball: Bald Eagle Area holds on to edge Clearfield

— Bald Eagle Area’s Bryce Greene fired home to catcher Bryan Greene to catch Clearfield’s Cole Kephart trying to score on a double steal to clinch the Eagles’ 14-13 win on Thursday.

Bald Eagle Area (11-4) took a 14-11 lead into the bottom of the seventh after Brandon Gettig’s RBI double. The Bison cut the Eagles’ lead to 14-13 before attempting a double steal with runners on first and third. The Greene brothers connected to gun down Kephart to prevent the tying run from scoring and end the game.

Clearfield scored eight runs in the fourth to take an 11-9 lead before Bald Eagle Area answered with four runs in the fifth, highlighted by Alex Struble’s solo home run.

Gettig finished 3-for-3 and scored two runs, and Nate Cleaver went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Eagles.
