Pair accused of theft of cable from coal company

State police at Clearfield are investigating two individuals accused of theft from a strip mine.

Police said that Joseph Oswalt, 22, of Morrisdale, and a 17 year-old boy from Philipsburg removed several strands of dragline cable from the Mink Road mine that were the property of A.W. Long Coal Co. in Morris Township, Clearfield County.

Police said the pair took the cable to a local scrap yard for compensation.

Charges of theft and possession of stolen property will be filed.
